FAQs

How do you measure clothing to ensure proper fit?

All garments are measured lying flat, unstretched, on a hard surface with a flexible fabric tape measure. Any measurement that goes around the body must be doubled. Bust, waist, hips, leg opening etc. fall into that category. Inseam, rise, sleeve and shoulder measurements do not.

Because sizing is not universal among makers or across decades, size numbers are a mostly meaningless starting point. To ensure proper fit, you must measure a garment that fits you well and compare. There really is no other way.

How do you prepare your clothing for shipment?

I inspect all garments for flaws and necessary repairs before purchase, after they’re cleaned and again after repairs have been made.

All garments are de-linted and de-fuzzed.

A professional seamstress handles most repairs. I’ve been known to mend a seam or tighten a button.

Your purchases are wrapped in tissue, put in a rip proof tyvek envelope, and put inside a black poly mailer bag. They are protected from the elements and from being torn by postal machines.

Most items, but not all, are hand washed prior to being offered for sale.

How much is shipping?
